The…Booktube…Newbie Tag

Okay, so yes there is a fundamental flaw in the title of this; this is not Booktube (yet!). However, it’s such a good tag from Brenda C over on Booktube that I want to do it on here as a Book Blog Newbie! So let’s just get into it:

1) Why did you start this blog?

I love reading books (shocking I know), and have so many thoughts and opinions that I just want to share. I need somewhere to get excited about books and express that excitement…the internet is wonderful for that! I have previously worked as a Librarian and Bookseller, and so I do enjoy expressing how much I love or hate a book and sharing my views.

2) What are some fun and unique things you can bring to the world of book blogging?

My enthusiasm and passion for children’s books and some grown-up books! I love recommending books that people will love if they’ve loved a specific book or genre and that’s something I really want to be a feature with my posts.

3) What are you most excited for about this new blog?

Being allowed to get excited about books and do something that I’m good at, and just getting to think about the books I’ve read and what I’ve liked and maybe not liked about them.

4) Why do you love reading?

Two main reasons would have to be the escapism and having things I relate to expressed in a much more eloquent way than I could ever hope to!

5) What book or series got you into reading?

Enid Blyton made me a child of books. I simply adored/adore her books and couldn’t stop reading them when I was younger – she really introduced me to a love of reading, and heavily influenced my writing when I was at school (creative writing always included boarding schools, smugglers and mystery!).

6) What questions would you ask your favourite book bloggers?

How do you make time to write, and what motivates you to blog?

7) What challenges do you think starting a book blog will be the hardest to overcome?

Finding the time to blog (I’m so disorganised!) and sticking to it! I’m awful for putting things off so need to get out of that habit! I’d also say that being a perfectionist is something I’ll have to overcome – my reviews can’t be perfect and I need to accept that.

8) When did you start reading?

I’ve always read, although I wasn’t a big fan of reading until I was about 6. I then discovered Enid Blyton when I was 7, and since then haven’t really stopped!

9) Where do you read?

In bed, when walking, 5 minutes here and there, on my break at work…anywhere I can!

10) What kind of books do you like to read?

My favourite genres would have to be YA Contemporary and High Fantasy, Middle Grade Fantasy and Mystery and Chick Lit.
